Summary

In Chapter 27, Autumn, Dallin, Lisa, and four of their friends go to the hospital. Dallin is obviously angry when he discovers that Autumn has been allowed in Jeff's room though he has not been able to see Jeff. Mrs. Matson takes Autumn in again, leaving the others outside. She tells Autumn that she cannot trust Dallin to behave responsibly in Jeff's room. When Autumn returns to the waiting room, everyone except Lisa is gone. Autumn feels terrible but knows apologizing again would be useless. She has also discovered that Jeff has not told Dallin he likes Autumn, which makes Autumn wonder if Jeff actually does like her. Lisa tries to reassure her, saying Dallin will get over his hurt feelings and that boys do not always confide in each other.
