Summary

Chú Quốc begins repeatedly calling Mr. Morgan. Hằng eventually relents and agrees to sign. She, LeeRoy, and David continue working to uproot the stump, but make no progress. LeeRoy helps Hằng work on word diagrams and David notices that they seem to have feelings for each other. Hằng draws David a picture of a sour fruit. At the end of the day, David runs into Cora’s arms, and she confronts Mr. Morgan about the hard labor he is forcing the children to do. Mr. Morgan becomes bashful and gives Hằng and LeeRoy the next day off. That night, Cora asks David how he feels about Hằng, and he insists he does not remember her. Later, though, he tastes sour fruit on his tongue.
