The Narrator's Home
The narrator's home is where the narrator resides along with her husband, Thorsteinn. It seems like that narrator was never really attached to this home, just as she was never truly attached to her husband. After Thorsteinn leaves the narrator, she easily leaves to attempt to become a new person while on her journey.
The Road
The road is one of the main catalysts for many of the novel's events, such as the killing of the goose, the meeting between the narrator and her future lover (by the landslide), and the excursion where the narrator meetings the hunters, just to name a few. The road acts as not only a road to the events of the novel, but a road to the point where the narrator finds her inner-self.
