Summary
Further down the road, the travelers pass two sheep on a hill that are eventually shot by some foreign construction workers. According to the car radio, the weather conditions have gotten worse, causing flooding in some areas. A bit further down the road, the narrator notices a car on the roadside. She meets the car’s owner, a vet who is transporting a sick falcon. They talk for a bit and part ways. Eventually, the narrator and Tumi get to a hotel named Hotel Sand. The pay for a room, watch TV and eat dinner. While eating, the vet appears and asks the narrator to watch his falcon while he goes to a farm and births a baby cow; she agrees. After dinner, the narrator leaves Tumi in the room while she watches the hotel’s dancers. When she returns, she finds Tumi...
