Summary
In pages 94 - 141, Tara tells Antara she will soon be pregnant, criticizing her appearance, weight, and diet. Antara knows she is always hungry. It began as a child, and she has "been searching for some fullness ever since" (95). She has never communicated this to Tara. At some point, a hole began forming between them.
Cracks start appearing in Antara's apartment walls. The neighbors feel uncomfortably close. Antara becomes increasingly distracted. She and Dilip have been arguing more frequently, particularly about how to rearrange her studio in preparation for Tara's stay. When Tara arrives, Antara is unsure if they both understand the reason for her stay.
Antara gets angry when Tara appears in one of her dresses. Tara insists it is hers. The argument devolves into Tara criticizing Antara's artwork. She tells Dilip: "This is her habit from childhood...She draws on everything" (99). Tara...
