Anita Blake
Anita Blake is the main character in the novel BURNT OFFERINGS by Laurel K. Hamilton. Anita is a necromancer, or someone who is able to raise the dead, as well as a licensed vampire executioner. Anita is a strong woman, though small in size, with a deep sense of justice and honesty. Blake is the third in a powerful triumvirate; the other two members are her current boyfriend, Jean Claude, the Master of the City, or head vampire, and her ex-boyfriend, Richard Zeeman, the Ulfric, or head werewolf, of the local pack.
Anita becomes involved in several matters in the novel, the most serious being the arrival of the vampire council. The council has come to St. Louis to question Jean Claude about the death of one of their members, the Earthmover. Because Jean Claude had killed the Earthmover, the vampire is expected to take his seat...
