Chapters 5 & 6 Summary
Ellie is horrified when she realizes where the crew is. She recalls a conversation she had with Colonel Finley during the onset of the war when he explained that if the airfield could be knocked out, the skies would be open for the Australian Air Force. While the enemy has many other defenses, it's clear that the airfield is the key to it all. When she delivers the news to the rest of her crew, they take it in different ways. Some cry, some turn pale, while some look resolved to get out of there alive. Surprisingly, everyone turns to Ellie for advice.
