Abe Streep
Abe Streep is the author of Brothers on Three. He works as a journalist for The New York Times Magazine. In the opening chapter of Part Two, Chapter 5, "Keep Up," Streep drives into Montana "on a reporting trip" (47). He is temporarily living in the state, a place he says that he "loved and thought [he] understood" (47). His reporting project begins as a stand-alone article on the Arlee Warriors basketball team. He believes that he is writing about the team and its top player Phil Malatare "as he pursue[s] college" (49). The story quickly evolves into a piece about the teams' attempts to defend their championship title. The longer that Streep stays in Arlee, the more the story grows beyond the team and their games. Streep soon realizes the complexities and depth of the story he is telling.
