Charlie Beckham is an assistant District Attorney for the United States, which means he's a federal prosecutor. While he spends his adult life going after organized crime, Charlie actually had quite a traumatic past, that ended with the mysterious disappearance of his brother. His parents died when he was very young, and his older brother, Jake, raised him and made sure that he could afford law school. Jake simply disappeared one day during lunch. Charlie grew up obsessed with his brother's disappearance, and his life is turned upside-down when he meets a homeless man who refers to him as "Wiley," which is his brother's nickname for him.
