Summary
Part 2 is entitled “Saturday.” In Part 2, Chapter 1, Rufina awakes on Saturday morning. She thinks about the days when she, Rafa, Rosalinda, and the Explorer were almost like a family, but Rufina is unable to hold this idea in her mind for very long. Rufina then notices that the apparitions of Rosalinda and Baby do not appear to be in the house. Even though Rufina knows that Rosalinda and Baby are just visions or ghosts now, Rufina feels pain and panic at their absence. However, for the time being, Rufina focuses on bringing Rafa back to the plaza to perform in the street.
In Chapter 2, Rufina and Rafa are performing and the plaza again while tourists watch. While Rafa mimes playing the broken guitar, he contemplates his own feelings of grief, sadness, and emptiness. He thinks about the tourists, and he feels...
