Chapter 49 Summary
Deciding the obvious exits would be watched, Odd and Rodion left by climbing out Sister Angela's window. Fearing they would lose each other in the blinding snow, Odd took a section of drapery cord secured one end to his wrist, Rodion did the same. Odd explains that his physic magnetism will almost always take him to the person he is thinking about, and he didn't want to lose Rodion in the process. They make it to the stairwell leading to John's Mew in a matter of minutes. Rodion translates the words over the door: light from light. Odd takes that to be a passage from the Bible, Rodion sees something entirely different: that out of the invisible can be born the visible, and that thought is energy that can be turned into the object imagined.
Odd puts his palm against the plasma screen...
