Chapter 39 Summary

The tires turn slowly in the air as the SUV lays there, with no easy way for the Brothers to exit. The Russian and eight Monks stay inside while the beast, rather than pursuing them, retreats a little and watches them. Brother Knuckles backs up his SUV then builds up the revolutions and accelerates. He turns at the last possible moment slamming into the creature, and when it explodes, it takes the windshield and Odd's courage with it. They quickly help the Monks and Rodion out of the other SUV. While most of them gather their tools, Rodion scoops a hat full of creature pieces, grabs a briefcase, and heads for the school. Seventeen Monks, Rodion, and Odd arrive at the school with their tools. It is obvious that Brother Leopold and Rodion are in some way aligned.
