Elena is so ecstatic to have contact with the outside world, she darts for the phone when it rings early in the morning. It's Xavier calling from a pay phone. He says the letter thing is back on and that the buyer wants it in the next couple of weeks. Elena looks at Clay like she's going to join the adventure but he tells her no way.

Jeremy and Clay have grounded Elena to Pack territory - New York State - because she is a target as the only female werewolf, Clay's girlfriend, and now a hidden pregnancy. Elena talks Jeremy into allowing her to go with Clay if Karl, a member of the pack looks at the plans and ensures her safety. Karl arrives two days later, declares the plan safe and off Clay and Elena go to Toronto.
