Summary
Chapter fourteen begins with Karl on the phone with a potential client. The man on the other end is not being specific about what he wants Karl to make him. While the man talks Karl thinks about the glass knives he makes in his studio and the beauty of a knife’s purpose. Eventually, he becomes fed up with the client’s ambiguity and asks him directly what he wants. The client agrees to send him a mock-up drawing if Karl will agree to sign a non-disclosure agreement first.
Karl agrees, and opens up his laptop to wait for the form. While he waits he opens up erotic photos of Rachel. As he looks at them he thinks about how much he likes Rachel and how he never should have married Eleanor. Finally, the agreement arrives in his email. He prints it, signs it...
