Summary
Kennedy felt something was fishy in Jennifer and Fiona’s relationship, but his money was on Patrick committing a murder-suicide. Cooper’s evaluation that his knife wounds could have been self-inflicted furthered this theory, but the absence of the murder weapon at the scene pointed them away once again. Kennedy decided to call up a group of “floaters,” detective assistants who aided with the grunt work on cases, and told them to search the area for the knife, as well as for any other suspicious evidence (59). While they waited for the results of the search, they went to interview the neighbors opposite. Sinéad Gogan was an unpleasant, unhelpful woman with an equally bratty son, but she told them about how the neighborhood had gradually gone downhill following the recession.
