Chapters 33 and 34 Summary
In Chapter 33, the body is in a spacesuit and he has plenty of oxygen left. While the crew doesn't know what he died of, it isn't suffocation. When Schneider and hand join the rest of the crew, Kovacs notices that hand is armed. Kovacs also notices that hand is showing signs of radiation sickness, but Schneider is the glowing symbol of health. Kovacs and Hand drag the dead body back to the Nagini, which takes some time because they are both failing from radiation sickness. When Kovacs joins the crew for dinner, he confronts Schneider, asking Schneider when Carrera is going to show up. While Schneider denies it, Kovacs explains to everyone else that the redone illuminated tattoo and the new sleeve Schneider is wearing is what's keeping him from falling ill like the rest of them.
