Chapters 11 and 12 Summary

In Chapter 11, Kovacs, Wardani, and Schneider are having drinks in a bar. They get into an argument about Kovacs being "buddies" with Hand. Wardani also confronts Schneider about his attitude. Schneider says his attitude stems from watching a 6-year-old girl die after bombing her bunker and then Schneider walks out. Kovacs and Wardani finish talking and decide to walk back to the hotel before the curfew.

In Chapter 12, Kovacs, Schneider, and Wardani are having breakfast the next morning when Hand meets up with them. They all leave on a shuttle to start recruiting soldiers for the dig. Hand tells Kovacs that they were being followed bu two humans and a cyborg on the previous night's outing.
