Manhattan
Most of the novel takes place in downtown Manhattan. It is described to have once been a haven for artists and off-center people to thrive that is now a gentrified, upscale shopping center for those who work on Wall Street. It serves as the idealized center for culture and wealth, which the characters identify with.
