Coming of Age

Becca is a baby as the story opens and ages mentally throughout the course of the story. However, she also matures, as seen in the final scene as she comes to realize that she has most of the answers she'd sought but now has to decide what to do with that information. It seems that the more immature Becca from early in the story would never have stopped to consider whether her family would want to know the details of Gemma's life. Another example of this theme is seen in the life of Stan, who tells Becca about his own quest to find his birth mother.
