Summary

In his second year of high school, Pikelet became an avid reader and met his girlfriend, Queenie, in the library. Loonie straddled a blowhole, hoping the force of it would shoot him upwards, but he ended up breaking his arm on the rocks. Sando had been preparing them for Old Smoky – he had taken them out diving there – and he came to collect them when the conditions were finally right. Unable to take part because of his arm, Loonie refused to come and watch, and he was increasingly hostile towards Pikelet from then on. On later occasions at Old Smoky, he astounded everybody with his bold surfing, thereby compensating for missing out the first time.
