Chapter 10, A Dublin Interlude Summary
On Saturdays, Charlie and Patrick travel to Dublin and shop with Dummy's money. They often go to a shop called 'Trash,' which is located in St. Stephen's Green in Dublin. Charlie and Patrick encounter Irwin on the streets of Dublin. Irwin is participating in an anti-internment march. Charlie and Patrick discuss the value of glam rock, which Patrick likes because it gives him an excuse to dress up like a woman. Irwin, however, is too interested in the war to listen to their conversation. The trio gets drunk off Harp, and Patrick greets strangers on the street, saying, "Why, Paddy Pussy, dahling!" He even says this to a British soldier. When they arrive home, Patrick learns that British soldiers in Derry have shot thirteen people.
