Summary
A man sits and stares at "a piece of paper" (17). He is making calculations. He considers the price of his ticket, the cost of the hotel, and the food he ate for 10 days. He wants to know what the trip cost per day. He and his lover had sex at least one each day, which means they drank every day. He realizes how expensive each of their nights together was.
Their time together, however, was not just about sex. They did other things too. He notes the value of the way she looked and smiled at him. She talked and sang and told jokes. Sometimes he did not know how to respond. Sometimes he did not feel "quick enough" for her (17). They would spend the entire day together, talking and touching. All throughout the day, he had a sense of what would happen...
