Chapter 1 Summary

Jenna Blake and Yoshiko Kitsuta are roommates at Somerset University which is located just outside Boston, Massachusetts. They are visiting Yoshiko's boyfriend, Hunter LaChance, in his room. Jenna considers both youngsters her good friends. It is just the day before spring break and Jenna looks forward to taking off for the tropical and balmy. She only has one last class, Shakespeare, before the break. Jenna and Yoshiko have plans to go to Captiva Island for the week.

Jenna feels bad about leaving her job at the Medical Center where she works as a pathology assistant in Dr. Walter Slikowski's office. Dr. Slikowski is the county medical examiner. She likes her job so much that she has decided to work in the forensics field after graduation. But that is a long way away. She has to get through college and medical school first. Another...
