Summary
Chapter Seven continues as Oliver talks about his job as a criminal defense lawyer. Expecting Luc to question the morality of his job, Oliver explains that everyone has a right to a strong defense, even when guilty. Luc points out his own reputation, but Oliver wants to hear it from Luc himself. They have another awkward conversation when Luc tries to speak French, only to learn that Oliver is fluent. He even demands that Oliver stop calling him Lucien, even though he secretly likes it. As dessert arrives for Luc, he offers to share, but Luc is crushed when Oliver takes the spoon to eat it himself.
In Chapter Eight, Luc is consumed by self-loathing as they leave. As Oliver starts to say goodbye, Luc panics and kisses him. Oliver pushes Luc away and demands to know what is going on. As Luc...
