The Importance of Defining and Accepting Yourself
From the beginning of the book, the reader gets the sense that Victoria is confident, unique, strong, and independent. However, while her willingness to modify her physical appearance to match that of her favorite sci-fi character may seem to indicate that she feels completely comfortable with herself, it becomes clear as the book progresses that Victoria is hiding behind this appearance. Victoria also takes on the perspective, thoughts and name of her favorite character as well, indicating further that she feels uncomfortable with herself and isn't quite sure of who she is.
When Victoria meets the actress that portrays her favorite character and sees that she is nothing like the character, and when others begin to point out that she is putting all of her passions into a movie and that they don't know who Victoria is, Victoria begins to realize that...
