Irina's Apartment
Large portions of the novel take place at Irina's apartment. She lives alone in South England. In the wake of receiving a six-week leave from her bartending job, Irina spends an increasing amount of time here by herself. Most days, she does exercise videos, obsesses over her hygiene, sits on her couch, and sorts through her photo archives. The latter bouts of time consume her more and more as the novel progresses. This is because Irina is trying to curate a series of photos to send to Jamie for the upcoming Hackney Space exhibit.
Ever since Irina killed the young homeless boy, Irina has kept her space nearly sterile. She not only has few belongings in her living space, but bleaches everything consistently. While her mother thinks the space seems medical, other visitors remark upon its modernity.
