Summary

In Chapter 23, Sami’s family arrived at Uncle Muhammad’s. Muhammad was a friend of Tete’s. He and his wife Fatimah were temporarily hosting Sami’s family. Fatimah introduced them to her children, Hassan and Iman. Muhammad told Hassan to show Sami the bathroom and bedroom. Hassan was unfriendly to Sami.

Sami could not understand Hassan and Fatimah’s behavior. Neither were acting kindly. Over dinner, “Baba and Uncle Muhammad were the only ones who talked” (171). Later, Sami asked to borrow Hassan’s computer so he could email Aadam and Joseph. Hassan was rude. Sami could not wait to leave.

In Chapter 24, Muhammad took the family “to the mosque for the evening prayer” (174). The mosque gave Sami a “sense of peace” (174).

Baba told Sami they could call Tete when they got home. Baba also said he would be working at the factory...
