Summary
In Chapter 6, Sami’s family “landed in Istanbul, Turkey” (60). In one day, they had “been in three countries and left two” (60). Sami thought of Joseph. He would call him when they reached England, their final destination.
A driver collected Sami’s family, taking them to a muddy yard with a gate (62). They were to stay in a small room with other migrants. Scared and confused, Sami realized they “had left home” (63). Although he wanted to cry, Sami told himself everything would be okay once they got to England.
