Structure
Born To Run is divided into three parts with a forward and epilogue. The forward serves to offer readers insight into Bruce Springsteen's motivation for writing this book. His goal is to shed light on both the "how" and the "why" he is able to do what he does. The book follows an overall chronological structure, although some chapters jump back and forth over short periods of time as different narratives overlap. Chapter lengths vary greatly throughout the book, with some covering many pages and other only occupying two or three. Almost every chapter is also divided with subheadings to further structure Bruce's thoughts as they cover a variety of narratives and themes.
