Shannon Bodine
Shannon Bodine is the central character of the story. She is a smart, successful commerical artist living in New York whose world is shattered when she discovers that her family life has been a lie. The man she knew as her father and who raised her, Colin Bodine, is not her biological father. Her real biological father is Thomas Concannon, an Irishman with whom her mother had an affair years ago. This sends Shannon into a tailspin about her family life, and about who she really is. Her questions are compounded by the arrival of John Hobbs, sent by the Concannon family in search of Amanda Bodine after the discovery of her letters.
