Chapter Fourteen and Chapter Fifteen Summary
In Chapter Fourteen, Murphy tries to quell his emotions by exerting himself physically around the barn. Maggie tries to get Murphy to talk to her, but he successfully waves her off, claiming he needs time alone to think. He continues his work on the farm the next day until Grayson and Rogan arrive with a bottle of Jameson whiskey. Rogan relates to Murphy how Shannon put Maeve in her place, and that Shannon spends more and more time painting. They commiserate together about their respective women and proceed to get drunk, although the next morning Murphy feels no better about Shannon. They speak briefly at Blackthorne about how to interact with one another: Shannon wants him to feel free about coming and going, and he wants her to return to her walks in the fields...
