Summary

Chapter 5

In Chapter 5, Emma is devastated when they leave the cabin because although Jake says they will come back, she knows it will never be safe. As they are walking toward their next destination, they come upon several of the infected feeding off a man who is still alive. Emma kills several with her bow and arrow, and then she is shocked when Anna kills the others with a gun Emma has given her. Anna tries to kill the infecteds’ victim but isn’t strong enough to use Emma’s bow so they agree to make one for her. Jake and Emma talk about their mutual love of reading Robin Hood and Emma sees joy in him, something she has not seen for a long time and her attraction to him gets stronger.
