Summary
The Booth family returns to Baltimore. Rosalie leads the housekeeping efforts when the family returns from Baltimore and is anxious to speak with Edwin. She is grateful for his triumphant return, but feels that he is inadvertently drawing attention to John’s failings.
Edwin returns from one of his theater performances exhausted and asks Rosalie if she will take him to see Father’s grave. She agrees, excited to finally have the opportunity to speak to Edwin one on one. Edwin has insisted on playing the same roles as Father, and this seems to weigh on him; he confides in Rosalie on the drive to the grave that he can feel Father’s ghost.
