Summary
In "Paris," the narrative skips ahead to 1997 when Tetration was still developing. Cull and Qui went to Las Vegas "for the consumer electronics show" (251). Principal decided not to go since he wanted to perfect his algorithm. Cull and Qui met Moe in Vegas, as he was there to present a proposal for his remote. Poe was attempting to create an "inverter gate that allowed any operation passing forward through it to pass backward again" (254). This type of reversibility, Principal tells Cohen the Narrator is "an Eastern conceit." Moe planned on raising enough money to employ seniors and the disabled on a Native American reservation to help him with his work.
When they met, Cull and Qui had lost thousands to gambling, which displeased Principal since some of it was taken from Tetration's common account. Moe had more money to his name than they...
