Nature vs. Nurture

The actions the Hierophant and Remy’s shadow Red represent the debate of nature versus nurture. One is pushed to be what is expected of it while the other is given true human emotions and allowed to grow. This drastically changes their worldview and how they see those around them.

The Hierophant is a clear example of what happens when one’s nature is prioritized. This Blight’s existence is meant to serve the Cabal. It is seen as a monster that is controlled by those the Cabal wants to punish. Therefore, the Blight’s nature is that of something that is deadly, but bound to humanity.
