Summary

In Chapter 32: "The Charlatan," Salt demands that Charlie give the book to him to prove its authenticity, but Charlie says it had been in his safe. She knows that Salt had given her the impossible task to steal the book he had to keep the Hierophant on his side with promises of a ritual that did not exist. She accuses him or murdering Knight and Salt tries forcing her to recant it with his shadow. However, since Charlie cut off her shadow earlier to give to Posey, she can no longer be controlled. Salt argues he was just trying to get herself to tell the truth and announces that he and the Hierophant have found Knight’s killer. Charlie says Stephen was the one who did it, but Salt says Vince deceived her. The members of the Cabal agree to listen to her...
