New York is a representation of dreams and ambitions that Nora sees as her home. She constantly longs for it and feels that the city is the only way for her to truly achieve happiness in her life. However, it also exemplifies how many can feel overwhelmed by the business and help explain why Nora’s sister, Libby, needs to leave the city in order to find the same happiness as Nora.
