Summary

In Chapter Five, Maren and Lee went to the cowboy’s house. Lee told Maren that his first time had been his babysitter, too. In the morning, Lee and Maren left the house in the cowboy’s car. Lee said he would drive Maren to Minnesota to see her dad after they went to Tingley, Virginia, so he could stop at his house.

They stopped at a diner and Lee told her he had never met another cannibal. Lee questioned what she would do if she could not find her father, but she did not want to imagine that scenario. Lee said he had to go home to give his little sister, Kayla, a driving lesson. They stopped in Illinois and Lee paid a mechanic to give them fake license plates.
