Summary
In Chapter 5, Blanca came home and Chino showed her Vera's ring. She insisted that they had to give it back. This conversation transitioned into an argument about Blanca's religious faith and Chino's lack thereof. Blanca told Chino that Negra had called and asked him to get in touch with Willie Bodega. She was in the hospital because Victor had beaten her up and she wanted Chino to ask Willie to “take care of Victor” (132). Blanca asked Chino who Willie was and Chino told her about Willie and Vera. He then stormed out of the apartment. Later, after leaving class, Chino felt bad about the argument so he went to Blanca's church.
