Love

The theme of love is prevalent throughout Blue Moon. The main character, Anita Blake is in love with two men, Richard, who is a werewolf and Ulfric or leader of a pack, and Jean-Claude, the Master Vampire in St. Louis, Missouri. Anita is torn between the two men, although when the novel begins she is only in a sexual relationship with Jean-Claude. At one time Anita had been engaged to Richard, but had been unable to deal with the fact that he was a werewolf and the physical change that took place when the full moon rose.

Anita realizes that she still loves Richard, and the love she feels for him not only strengthens her personally, but also strengthens the triumvirate or triangle of power that she, Richard and Jean-Claude exist in. Anita discovers that Jean-Claude has already informed Richard that the feelings they have for each other...
