Blue is for nightmares explores the meaning of friendship. Stacey and Drea have been roommates for the last two years. At the same time, Drea and Chad know each other since childhood. Their friendship is based on certain affection they share.

Stacey and Drea know their likes and dislikes, yet they are afraid to share things about themselves that are embarassing. Stacey is afraid to tell Drea that she wets her bed even though it may be a medical condition. At the same time, Drea doesn't feel comfortable to share with Stacey that she has been talking on the phone to someone she doesn't even know.
