Chapter 9: Music Summary
In the sixth round of the Tourney, Stile achieves an easy victory over yet another Citizen, but Sheen worries about him facing the Red Adept in the Red Demesnes. His opponent in round 7 is Clef, a serf of his own age, and Stile agrees to grant Clef the choice of game, Music, while he chooses the instrument, the harmonica. Before the round begins, Sheen warns Stile that Clef is expert in all music. When the solo performances result in a draw, the contestants must play a duet. Clef worries about the contest being unfair for Stile and asks how Stile elicited such a response from the audience, so Stile explains that it is necessary to feel while performing in order to develop a rapport with one's audience.
