Power

Power is central to the novel BLOODY BONES by Laurel K. Hamilton. Serephina is the Master of the City of Branson Missouri. Serephina was given the territory when Jean Claude, Anita's boyfriend and Master of the City of St. Louis, relinquished it. Jean Claude did not see a need to maintain such an empire and saw fit to give the area to another. The vampire council deemed Serephina a good fit for the area and made her master.

Serephina was not only unappreciative of being made master of the area, it seems she resented receiving the land from someone who had once been below her. The Master of Branson set her sights on taking not only Jean Claude's properties and possessions, but also his life, attempting to make him what he once was, the plaything of others. The pull of power that Serephina longed for was her downfall...
