Pride vs Vanity

As a law enforcement officer, it is a matter of pride to solve all of the cases that are put in front of you. It is a symbol of your ability to do your job, and representative of the level of intelligence and effort that you put into your work. When a case is unsolved, or has no resolution, it is difficult not only for the law enforcement personnel involved, but also for the victims of the crime, and their friends and family.
