Point of View

The book is written from a third-person narrative point of view, with the majority of the focus placed on Anna Percy. Anna is the protagonist and as a result, readers get insight into what she is thinking. Through the third-person narrative voice, readers learn about Anna's past and how the prior events of her life have shaped the current events. Readers can also deduce that Anna is pretty true to herself in her interactions with others. The way that she acts matches up with her internal monologue and she is what she seems. Anna is not hiding any agenda or desire to manipulate, but is simply trying to figure out her own life and identity.
