Summary

Chapter 55 is subtitled Dad's Week. Isaiah continues to apologize for calling the police, but Isabella remains angry. Anastasia is so angry that she does not speak to Isaiah for a while. “Darren rushed home from a date” to comfort Isabella (219). He sits silently with her, handing her tissues while she cries, and does not even check his phone.

Chapter 56 is subtitled Dad's Week. Isaiah is still conciliatory, but Isabella is tired of the tension and drama. Isaiah invites Isabella to join him outside where he has built a fire. He says he wanted to do something special for Isabella. He has never done anything like this. The scents and situation seem old-fashioned but safe, though Isabella is not sure why. Isaiah apologizes for not considering how the police presence would affect Isabella. Isaiah promises that he and Anastasia will be at the recital...
