Summary
In Chapter 18, subtitled Mom's Week, Nicole and Isaiah are screaming at each other on the phone. Isabella says this has gotten worse since Isaiah moved back to Cincinnati. Isaiah wants to take Isabella to a symphony, but Nicole is furious that the day is during her week. Nicole is sobbing at the end of the call. Isabella comforts her, then goes to her room. Isabella has a separate backpack for each house. She only takes her piano music bag, her cell phone, and her journal between the two. “But in both my Mom bag and my Dad bag I carry notebook paper and pencils, a phone charger, a wallet, a USB thumb drive, and my books” (67). She cites the need to stay organized.
