Chapter 18 Summary
When Claudia arrives the next morning, she finds Jena with the horse, but looks terrible. Jena's father had slept on the straw beside Jena and the horse. Julia says the horse drank water a few times, which is a good sign. Julia tells Claudia that Jena's father found a firecracker near where the horse had been tethered—saying it had been an attack. Julia also says that Rosco is involved. Claudia finds this odd because Rosco had been trying to help. When Claudia returns from work, she is happy to see the horse standing in his stable. Jena is happy because he drank two buckets of water, even though the horse hasn't eaten yet. When Claudia hugs Jena, Jena starts to cry. Claudia takes Jena to the bungalow to bathe and rest.
