Chapter 3 Summary

In the morning, Peter realizes he drank too much the night before. Julia offers him breakfast but Peter declines. Peter asks if she decided on a date for the dinner party, but Julia says she didn't and suggests they pick a date now. Peter starts thinking about the neighbor he had seen the night before and is intrigued by her. Peter leaves while Julia is outside hanging out the laundry.

When Peter drives past Claudia's, he sees Anthony Brewer's Land Rover is parked in the driveway. Claudia finds a handsome man standing on her doorstep, saying it is his tractor Claudia ran into the previous day with her car. He says that it looks like her car is a complete write off.
