Summary
The people who historically vote for the left, Owens argues, are “people who regret their life choices and need to dissolve internal regret via some intangible, external force” (177). Owens cites the story of her friendship with Alexa who she met interning one summer in New York for a fashion magazine. Alex was waitressing and pursuing a career in acting.
